The Department of Defense has identified 3,605 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

McKINNEY, Jeffrey R., 40, First Sgt., Army; Garland, Tex.; First Infantry Division.

ORTIZ, Maria I., 40, Capt., Army; Bayamon, P.R.; assigned to the Kirk United States Army Health Clinic.
